Duncan Middle School is planning its next pep rally, and it will be aimed at recognizing student athletes who participated in winter sports.
The original date for the pep rally was Feb. 12, but the pep rally was postponed.
Caylin Copeland, a seventh-grade cheerleader, said she is looking forward to the pep rally because pep rallies are a lot of fun.
Her favorite part about pep rallies is when she gets to do band dances. Her least favorite part is when she has to tumble.
She really enjoys pep rallies and thinks they are good for school spirit because they bring everyone together. She does want to play a game again, like wig snatch, which was played at the first pep rally of the year, because it made the pep rally more interactive for students.
One part of the pep rally she looks forward to is the awarding of the Spirit Stick.
“Whatever year is loudest should win the Spirit Stick,” Copeland said.
Noah Mitchell, another seventh-grader, feels that pep rallies are important for school spirit.
Mitchell said pep rallies are fun, and he wishes the school had more because he enjoys them.
Although he said he enjoys the pep rallies, he said his favorite part is getting out out class. His least favorite part about the pep rallies is that they are too short.
He said wants the seventh grade to win the Spirit Stick.
“We are the best and the loudest,” Mitchell said.
For eighth-grader Delaney Ward, the best part of the pep rallies is doing the band dances as a cheerleader. Her least favorite part is when people in the bleachers don’t participate.
“Pep rallies are good for school spirit because it brings everyone together,” Ward said.
She thinks pep rallies are fun and wishes Duncan Middle School did more games during the pep rallies so the students could get involved.
She wants the eighth grade to win the spirit stick.
“It’s our last year here, so we have to end it with a win,” Ward said.
