“Project Hail Mary” is so good.
The movie, which was released earlier this month, is about a man name Rylan Grace, who is on a mission to save the earth. His mission includes finding a way to stop a leaching of the sun’s energy, caused by microscopic organisms (astrophange) that are doing the same things to all known stars, except one.
The hero mission is filled with numerous ups and downs, including the off-screen deaths of Grace’s mission team. Along the way, Grace has to recover his memories, deal with the suicide mission, learn to fly the spaceshuttle and determine why the one star isn’t infected with the astrophange.
During his mission, he makes first contact with an alien, named Rocky by Grace, who soon becomes his lone friend. Rocky faces a similar mission to Grace, as his star is also dying from the astrophange. Together Grace and Rocky work together to solve the program with their shared universe.
The two find themselves in a battle against time and, at one point, gravity, as they work to save their planets.
“Project Hail Mary” is rated PG-13.
