The Duncan eighth-graders now have a chance to swim with the Duncan High School.
This school year, eighth-grade students were invited to try out for the high school team. The team is led by Andrew Bowers, a Duncan Middle School teacher.
“I think it will be a huge benefit for our program,” Bowers said. “Unfortunately, the State of Oklahoma does not recognize middle school swim, so they will not be able to compete.
“However, having them state in eighth grade instead of ninth will give our swimmers an extra year, compared to the other schools in our area.”
Today, Bowers, who has been coaching swim for five year, held a meeting to talk with potential eighth-grade swimmers.
