School wasn’t in session yet, but numerous students were gathered in front of Duncan Middle School.
These students joined together in fellowship in prayer, as the annual See You at the Pole event took place. This year, the event took place Sept. 25, at DMS.
See You at the Pole is a global, student-led organization and event done at schools. The first event took place Sept. 12, 1990, when a group of teenagers in Burleson, Texas, felt they need to pray together. They would gather around the flagpoles of their school before the beginning of the school semester to pray.
Later, they would send the challenge to other students in Texas, to pray, too. Since then, See You at the Pole takes place every fourth Wednesday in September.
This year’s event at DMS began at 7:30 a.m. with songs being played and donuts handed out. During the event, three DMS students spoke in front of the flagpole and addressed the crowd. These students were Adyson Cook, Collins Budowsky and Paislee Roberson, all of whom read about the power of prayer.
“Prayer can get you out of storms,” Cook said.
Cook thinks there were many students there, but she hopes more people come to the next See You at the Pole. She believes that See You at the Pole can help students learn more about Christ, and it can lead them the right way. She sometimes leads a Bible study either in the library or the wrestling room.
Budowsky said that the worship songs were really good and could help students get to God.
“There was a good amount at See you at the Pole,” she said.
She believes that See You at the Pole can get people closer to Jesus.
Robinson said the girls who spoke stood out to her. Robinson also said there was a good amount of people there, and she wasn’t expecting that many people.
Robinson claimed that if we do more bible studies like See You at the Pole students will hear what Jesus said and learn the right thing to do.
