The Bible study at Duncan Middle School has become something many students look forward to every week.

Before school each Wednesday, students come together for the Bible study, which brings people together to talk about Jesus Christ and how he has saved many individuals.
The Bible study has become an opportunity for students to learn about God, Jesus and the Bible. Previously, DMS had a Fellowship of Christian Athletes program. But as FCA came to an end, students stepped up to create their own Christian-based group.
“I want to inspire others to do the right thing,” James Boles, seventh-grader at DMS, said.
New student leadership has emerged this year, with eighth-graders Bricelyn Brown, Canon Atchley, Zack Ottwell and Layton Toomey taking the lead this year.
For some students, the Bible study is an introduction to Christianity, while others treat it as a supplement to their typical church habits.
Each week, the group leaders focus on specific Bible versus that are selected in hopes of meeting someone’s need that morning. It also give people an opportunity to pray, to grow and to start their Wednesdays on a positive note.
On certain Wednesdays, high school students come to the meetings and help with learning about God.
“They help by letting us learn more about God and how to be like him,” Atchley said.
Although the Bible study does have many members who attend church regularly, it’s not just for them. The leaders hope to spread to words and works of Jesus by reaching out to those who are of another religion, don’t attend church or don’t believe in God. For some students, the Bible study is the only way they can learn about God.
Therefore, the Bible study at Duncan Middle School is scheduled for 7:30 a.m. every Wednesday in the DMS wrestling room.
