The line started before 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, and at times it crossed halfway across the gym.
Club signups were Wednesday at Duncan Middle School, and many students were excited to add their names to the lists of various club memberships.

Some of the clubs students were able to sign up for included Science Club, Outdoor Club and archery. Additionally, eighth-grade students got to sign up for the Youth Coalition, which started late in the 2024-25 school years and opened only to seventh-graders at that time.
I am doing archery this year and I’m excited for it,” Blaine Wilson, DMS seventh-grader, said. “The reason I’m doing archery is because I love bows and wish to win state in the future. A way I can help the clubs is by providing my own bow.
“I feel like this year’s club is going to be packed with people.”

Duncan Middle School has numerous clubs this year, but not all were clubs students could sign up for on Wednesday. Clubs, such as Student Council and National Junior Honor Society, which are the largest clubs at DMS, have other ways of selecting their membership.
Men of Impact, another DMS club, had its first meeting Tuesday, prior to club signups.
Still, the annual club signups give new and returning students an opportunity to see what clubs are available and to get involved at DMS. Some clubs also see a boost in membership from participating in signups.
Keagan Alvarez, a sixth-grader, said he was looking forward to participating in Science Club.
“I am doing science and very excited for it,” Alvarez said. “The reason I’m doing it is because I like science and it seems fun. I hope to learn in the club, and I think I will provide my club with my smarts.
“I feel like this years clubs will be really fun, and I’m excited for it.”
This year will feature some changes in what clubs are available at DMS. For instance, History Club is not returning, b but there have been discussions of a Chess Club.
However, some student-favorite clubs will be back this year.
Aaron Madison, another sixth-grader, said he’s ready to get involved.
“I am doing Green Club, and I’m kind of excited for it,” Madison said.
He said he thinks he will get a lot out of the club.
“I feel like it will be a new experience, Madison said. “I feel like this will be a nice experience this year.”
