I had my first track meet of the season Monday in Elgin.
It was so fun, but I got a sunburn on my arms. And that’s not good because I now have a weird farmer’s tan.
We arrived around 8:45 a.m. in Elgin, and it too so long for my events to be called. My first event was the long jump, which was kind of in the middle of the meet schedule. I also run the 200 meter, which was around the end of the meet.
Some of my favorite events I saw were probably the relays. A lot of events were also cool to watch, such as the 300 hurdles, which some random kid crawled under at the last hurdle.
I don’t think I did too bad for my first meet because I got 15th overall in the 200, third in the heat 3 and 10.9 for the long jump.
The concession was also good because I got ice cream and Dr Pepper.
Even though it was fun, I just wish it wasn’t as hot. Our tent was on a flat part of the ground and not on a slight hill with rocks and grass blowing toward us.
The track meet was really fun to go to and really fun to run at. I got to talk to new people and also skip school all day.
