Duncan Middle School is getting students state test ready by having them participate in a “March Madness” type event, involving Edmentum’s Exact Path.
If students show growth in Exact Path during the time frame, they will get to play different types of fun activities during the advisory period on a decided day. If students get more than 30 trophies on Exact Path, then they get Crumble Cookies as a prize.
Seventh-grader Stevvie French said she is excited about the possiblity of getting Crumble Cookie.
Exact path is a K-12 personalized online learning program for more learning growth. The online learning program uses AI powered diagnostic tests to identify what three subjects the students need to learn from more. It creates customized learning paths in math, reading and language arts to improve the students on state tests.
Each subject has its own diagnostic tests.
Teachers at DMS have encouraged students to work on Exact Path not only so they can show improvement, but also so students are prepared for the state tests. Many students have said that Exact Path has helped them in different ways like word questions in math, reading the passages in reading, and so much more.
“Exact Path helps me multiply and divide without a calculator,” French said.
Some students feel like Exact Path doesn’t help them for multiple reasons like the program placing them in units they have already learned or have been through. Some also think that they could use advisory for something else like to work on missing work or do something more productive.
A lot of the students think the school will most likely involve games like UNO, Connect 4, Guess Who, and dodgeball. The advisory game day will be in the cafeteria and gym. Some students would also like to change the Crumble Cookie prize for it to be more long term.
