The Duncan football teams have seen different outcoming this season, but things could still change.
Seventh grade is so far undefeated, which isn’t the case for the eighth-grade team.
“My goal for the end of the season is to win at least two games,” eighth-grader Boston Burris said of his football team.
The goal of ending the season with a 2-5 ratio would still best last year’s eighth-grade team that won one game during the 2024-25 football season.
Burris said the eighth-grade season has been going well so far, but there could be improvements made. He said the worst part of the season was losing to Lawton Eisenhower.
D’montre Petties, another eighth-grade player, had similar hopes of ending better than last year’s team.
“This season’s been bad, but we can do a lot better if we stay focused,” Petties said.
He said he doesn’t like that the eighth-grade team is current 0-2, but he hopes the team will turn it around. He said, ideally, the team would end a 5-2 ratio.
Despite how eighth-grade’s season has been going, seventh grade has found success this year.
Curtis Bohannan, seventh-grade running back, is hoping to end with a 7-0 winning streak but understands that may not happen.
“If we go 6-1, I’ll be fine,” Bohannan said.
Seventh-grader Mason Craig agreed that the seventh-grade team should keep winning, but he also set personal goals for himself.
“By the end of the season, I want to have at least five touchdowns, but I won’t be mad if I get more,” Craig said.
He wants the end record to be 7-0.
The next football game is tonight at Elgin. The seventh-grade game starts at 5:30 p.m., and the eighth-grade game starts at 7 p.m.
